Spring Fling 2008 will take place across Dumfries & Galloway from Saturday 24 to Monday 26 May 2008.
Spring Fling offers the exciting opportunity to meet with South West Scotland’s talented artists and makers in their individual creative space for three days only.
The studios of this year’s 87 participants are allocated right across Dumfries & Galloway. Whether tucked away in a farm steading or set up in a dedicated studio, all are keen to welcome you and offer the chance to explore contemporary art and craft.
There are many new elements to Spring Fling this year, including a wealth of New Studios and New Faces, full details of which are provided in the brochure.

• Lisa Gallacher artist in residence on the CREATE Italy.Scotland: Cultural Transitions project, working with pupils from local schools will open her studio in Dumfries
• The Robert Burns Centre, Dumfries is pleased to present a programme of documentaries and films at the Film Theatre exploring the theme of the artist in their creative environment in the week running up to Spring Fling
• Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival kicks off a feast of events and films across the region on Friday 23 May 2008 including entertainment on a Spring Fling evening
73 studio venues are included in this year’s Spring Fling and we can assure you that the experience will be a unique and rewarding one. Meeting a maker of a work and finding out how and where it was made is a special privilege and also great fun. Whether you are looking for that special gift, are curious to watch an artist at work, even have a go yourself, or simply fancy a great day out Spring Fling is for you. Not only will you be discovering the region’s arts and crafts, you’ll also be enjoying stunning locations across the breadth of the beautiful region. |
