Print Studio

The Printmaking Studio is located in the Gracefield Studios building. Established in 1999 as a fully functioning non-toxic printmaking workshop the facilities are available to use on a membership and open basis.

The studio is well equipped for a comprehensive processes in intaglio printmaking and relief printing. A medium screen-printing bed can also be used on request.

Facilities include:-
½ sheet etching press
¼ sheet etching press
UV exposure unit for photo-polymer intaglio (photo etching) and screen exposures
2ft metal guillotine
Colombian relief press
75cm x 75cm dip tank filled with Edinburgh Etching copper plates
Multi-purpose sink units

Metal, chemicals and consumables stocks are held at the studio. Basic consumables are included but metal plates and fine papers are to be bought by users.

The studio does not have a technician so a level of knowledge is assumed when bookings are made. Courses will be run at intervals throughout the year by invited artists and other workshop members. Information is available in books and hand-outs. All health & safety instructions must be followed and the print studio is used at your own risk.

You will need to bring: quality cartridge papers/printing papers, brushes & pens, pencils.

The workshop is open Monday - Saturday, 9.00am - 5.00pm and by arrangement on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 6.30 - 9.30pm when there are other classes on at Gracefield (usually throughout the winter/spring period). A booking diary is kept as the workshop can only accommodate 4/5 individuals at a time. Please phone in advance to check availability and collect the key from reception on arrival.

Weekly (mon to sat, six day rate) members £25 Non-members £100
Annual membership fee: £30
Six-monthly membership fee: £18
All inclusive membership fee: £180 allows unlimited access and no daily/hourly rate
(This can be made in two installments, half at the start of the year with the balance at six months)
